The second edition of the IP ROUND TABLE was held at the WIPO headquarters in Geneva on 25 October 2017
This meeting is attended by the heads of the main WIPO information and documentation services and by a representation of international users, particularly user groups (CEPIUG, PDG, PIUG, JIPA), and is a unique opportunity to be informed about and discuss at high level the patent information services offered by WIPO, which is a leading player in this sector.
The meeting was introduced by Yo Takagi, Assistant Director General of WIPO and, according to the programme, presentations have been given about the databases PATENTSCOPE, GLOBAL BRAND and GLOBAL DESIGN DATABASE, the WIPO CASE platform, the collection of laws (WIPO LEX) and of statistical data (WIPO Statistics), as well of other activities that are of fundamental support for the development of the information on industrial property: the standards (in particular, the new St.27 on legal status) and the classifications (IPC, Nice, Locarno, Vienna ).
WIPO also manages the entire PCT procedure which, with its current 152 countries and contracting authorities, has undoubtedly become the instrument of international protection par excellence, and an update about the system has been given too.
Last but not least, the participants have been informed about the training activity carried out by the WIPO Academy at various levels, by offering basic courses through distance learning, by supporting masters and by promoting the dissemination of IP culture in the world.
